Chacko Sonny, executive producer of Overwatch 2, resigns from Blizzard Entertainment

We talked about CLO Claire Hart’s unexpected resignation and Activision Blizzard today, and now there’s word of another employee leaving the company. Chacko Sonny, according to Bloomberg, has also decided to leave Blizzard Entertainment (specifically Blizzard Team 4).

Chacko Sonny’s decision, like Hart’s, was made on Friday, September 17, a critical day for Blizzard’s management dynamics. Sonny was the Executive Producer of Overwatch 2 until a few days ago, and was regarded as a key figure in the game’s development, capable of bringing stability and order to the team:

“After 5 years of service, Chacko Sonny is leaving Blizzard Entertainment to take a break,” Blizzard told GamesRadar’s editorial team.

“Blizzard Team 4’s talented team is making excellent progress on Overwatch 2, and the game is in the final stages of production thanks to their hard work; we’ll share more details on the Overwatch League finals later this month.”

This news reveals that Overwatch 2 is nearing completion and that we will soon learn more about its release date.

Overwatch 2 is planned for release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Battle Net).
