Aspyr Media, which was recently acquired by Embracer Group, has previously collaborated with Lucasfilm, and when the Texas studio announced a remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for PlayStation 5 and PC, questions were raised about the involvement of EA and BioWare, who were responsible for the original version.

Geoff Keighley decided to try to solve this riddle by directly asking EA about his role in the KOTOR Remake. The response he received was far from clear, although essentially confirming that EA and BioWare are not collaborating on this project.

Instead of a clear yes or no, EA chose to add that it is pleased with its partnership with Lucasfilm and the games it has previously created, while also emphasizing that more Star Wars games are in the works.

Instead of a simple no, a long “we also produce Star Wars games” was offered.

BioWare was a bit more open, indicating that they were enthusiastic about the game and ready to get their hands on it when it was released, as well as stating that they would be paying close attention to Aspyr’s efforts.

The PS5 version of the KOTOR remake will be published by Sony, while the PC version will be distributed by Aspyr herself.
