Doom Eternal

The first-person shooter game, Doom Eternal, was developed by id Software and published by Bethesda Softworks. It was launched on March 20, 2020 for Windows, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with versions for Nintendo Switch on December 8, 2020, and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S on June 29, 2021.

Set some time after the events of the 2016 game, the story once again follows the Doomslayer on a mission to stop Hell from swallowing up Earth and stop the alien Maykr from killing everyone.

In addition to the single-player narrative, Battlemode, a multiplayer mode, was introduced. In this mode, players can assume the role of either the Doom Slayer or a demon, fighting until either the Doom Slayer or the demons are defeated. In October 2021, another option, Horde mode, was introduced. The Ancient Gods is a two-part standalone campaign DLC released between October 2020 and March 2021. It takes place after the events of the main game.

Positive reviews greeted the release of Doom Eternal, praising its narrative, aesthetics, level design, soundtrack, and combat mechanics, but some criticized its increased emphasis on storytelling and platforming. The Game Awards nominated Doom Eternal for five awards in 2020, including Game of the Year and Best Action Game.
