Horizon Forbidden West will offer a free PS4-to-PS5 update on all editions
Sony has chosen to update the Horizon Forbidden West booking information to notify you that all game editions feature free PS4 to PlayStation 5 transfer.
When it was revealed that the two cheaper editions of Guerrilla Games’ game did not offer a free transition between generations, the game sparked an expected backlash. This meant that if a person purchased the Normal or Special version on PS4, they would not have access to the PS5 version if they subsequently purchased that console. I’d use backwards compatibility to play the PS4 version on the PS5.
Jim Ryan, President of Sony Interactive Entertainment, said in an official information update that gamers who bought Horizon Forbidden West on PS4 will have free access to the PS5 version.
Ryan claims that due to the pandemic, they were unable to comply with the announcement and will launch Horizon Forbidden West in 2021, but that they will comply with the other announced part, allowing free upgrade from PS4 to PS5 in all launch cross-gen games, including Guerrilla Games, regardless of the postponement.
Ryan also claims that PlayStation Studios cross-gen titles, like God of War and Gran Turismo 7, will now feature the option to upgrade from the PS4 to the PS5 version for €10.
The following is our reply to the prior scenario, in which Sony’s sole choice was to purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition (or Collector’s Edition), which costs 89.99 euros. This edition had access to both the PS4 and PS5 versions, although it was more expensive.
