Mamma Mia! Nintendo fans are furious with Chris Pratt’s choice to voice Mario in the film

As you may know, Nintendo used yesterday's Direct to reveal that 42-year-old Anglo-American actor Chris Pratt would play everyone's favorite Italian plumber in the next "Super Mario Bros." movie. The Japanese video game giant also weighed in on the decision:

However, whether luckily or sadly, Nintendo fans were outraged by the controversial decision. The most persistent issue was that Charles Martinet was not picked to portray the character, despite the fact that he will participate in the full film, although not as Mario.

Many Italians were equally disappointed with the actor’s choice, with some even complaining that no one of Italian ancestry was included (even with Charles Martinet himself being an American of French descent).

“Super Mario Bros.” is being produced by Illumination and directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, who previously worked together on the animated series “Young Titans in Action” and the film “Young Titans in Action! For Theaters.” Super Mario Bros. is set to be released in theaters on December 21, 2022.

What are your thoughts on the decision?
