The Batman Actor Reveals Fear of Dying in Arctic Serial Filming

Colin Farrell, who will portray the villain Penguin in The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson, stated that he was terrified when filming the BBC miniseries The North Water, which was shot in the Arctic area, near the North Pole, where the average temperature was less than-2°C.

“I got the impression that death was just a false step away,” Farrell explained to Metro.

“We were filming on shifting ice chunks, which had the potential to break. We had four individuals on the lookout, one on each corner with a gun and binoculars. Every ten or so times they sighted a polar bear, a horn would sound, and we’d have to rush back to the boat until it was gone.

“The bears and their pups were magnificent, majestic, but, you know… keep them away from me, “Colin Farrell remarked in the miniseries The North Water, which premiered in the middle of this year.

What is the storyline of The North Water miniseries?

The North Water is a five-part miniseries based on Ian McGuire’s 2016 novel of the same name. It tells the narrative of Patrick Sunner (Jack O’Connell), a former army physician who signs up as a doctor for an Arctic expedition in the 19th century to hunt whales with Henry Drax (Colin Farrell), a harpooner and merciless murderer. Sumner embarks on a dangerous trip with a violent maniac in order to escape the horrors of his past. Their narrative becomes a struggle for survival as they seek atonement. Isn’t it insane?

Colin Farrell even spoke to Metro about his psychotic persona and the difficulties he had while playing him:

Colin Farrell even spoke to Metro about his psychotic persona and the difficulties he had while playing him: “I’d never played a character with such little scruple or who commits such heinous things before, and I couldn’t get out of that role. He was constantly with me because I was living in this physical environment that was extremely different for me for 24 hours a day, seven days a week, “he confessed.

“It’s been challenging, but tremendously gratifying, as life’s trials often are,” he remarked of his experience working on the miniseries.

“The distance, the immensity, the beauty, and the silence…being up there seemed like an honor.” I maintained a video journal and emailed it to the kids [os dois filhos do ator], something I hadn’t intended on doing but had to do.

“We were portraying a really nasty story in a very beautiful setting, and the contrast was tremendous,” Farrel said of the part.

The Penguin will be played by Colin Farrell in The Batman.

The Batman is scheduled to hit theaters on March 4, 2022, and will star Robert Pattinson as Batman and Bruce Wayne, as well as the appearance of the superhero’s three main antagonists: Zöe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Damage as the Riddler, and, of course, Colin Farrell as Penguin – a character who will star in a spin-off series on HBO Max.

The film, directed by Matt Reeves, is influenced by the noir genre and follows millionaire Bruce Wayne as he works as a night watchman after his parents are murdered. However, owing to a series of crimes, the hero will need to use his investigative talents to defend Gotham City.
